Kona Mountain Coffee's roastery is at 73-4038 Hulikoa Drive in Kailua-Kona, a five minute drive south of Kona International Airport. Free samples of hot coffee, cold brew, and handmade chocolates. You can watch roasting Monday through Friday and talk to the roaster through a roll-up window. No reservation, no tour fee.

What you actually get to do

Talk to the roaster. There's a garage-style window that rolls up right at the roaster. If you have a question about roast profiles, or what the current harvest is doing, ask the person doing it. Monday through Friday.

Watch chocolate being made. A big window looks into the chocolate room. The chocolates are made by hand on site, and people usually end up standing there longer than they expected.

Taste before you buy. Hot coffee, cold brew, and chocolate samples, all free. You don't have to buy anything.

Ship it home from the counter. We pack and ship in store, and not just coffee. Chocolates, macadamia nuts, anything else in the shop. It goes out right away so it's waiting when you land. This is the thing most visitors don't know and wish they had.
