Environmental Policy

In our efforts to produce conventional certified Kona coffee in an environmentally friendly manner, we have developed farming practices that return the harvesting and processing byproducts back into the soil. The fresh coffee skins can be used for weed control around the trees or, if left to breakdown, as mulch to replenish nutrients back into the soil. In addition, we recycle the coffee wash water. The waste water containing fermented sugar water is filtered of most of the solid matter and aerated prior to being used for irrigation. Most important of all is the green waste from pruning nearly 90 acres of coffee. All branches and twigs are mulched on site and recycled year after year; not dumped in our landfills. We will continue to farm our specialty coffee by recycling byproducts that are biodegradable.
